I don't use Java, but if u need it, or any apps need it, install it, the disable it after use...
No point in keeping something enabled the whole time if its not being used 100% of the time.... that could always leave it open to attack.... I don't really care if Apple is more safer .. Java is still Java..
JAVA update in Windows 10 - posted in Windows 10 Support: I ask because now unsure if anything special to know, although I was advised what to do if in Windows Vista. I now wonder if there is. 1.13 is dead! Long live 1.13! We’re going to hold back the official launch of 1.13 and merge that release with all the features we’d planned for the Update Aquatic. If the OS is asking to install Java, probably web page or something, why do u need it ? Is there a reason u need Java, or just curious because the OS is asking you ? That's not a good reason to install anything, without asking yourself if u need it first.

Oracle has started to release Java 9 for macOS, so I’m posting a couple of scripts to download and install the following:
How to Update or Disable Your Java in Mac OSX. Go to the Apple in the upper left-hand corner. Select “Software Update” from the menu. The program will check for new software. Update all of your software including Java. Snow Leopard (Lion doesn’t come with Java by default) 1. In Finder, go to “Applications” folder. FIX: To use the java command-line tool you need to install a JDK (MAC OS X) Last updated on February 17th, 2018. The following pop up message is displayed randomly on a Macbook Pro: 'To use the java command line tool you need to install a JDK.

Oracle has been releasing two separate versions of Java 8 simultaneously and may do the same for Java 9, so these Java 9-focused scripts are designed to allow the user to set which version they want to install: the CPU release or the PSU release.
The difference between CPU and PSU releases is as follows:
- Critical Patch Update (CPU): contains both fixes to security vulnerabilities and critical bug fixes.
- Patch Set Update (PSU): contains all the fixes in the corresponding CPU, plus additional fixes to non-critical problems.

The script below will download a disk image containing the latest version of the Java 9 JDK from Oracle and install the JDK using the installer package stored inside the downloaded disk image.
How the script works:
- Verifies that the Mac is running a Java 9-compatible operating system
- Uses curl to download a disk image containing the latest Java 9 JDK installer from Oracle’s web site
- Renames the downloaded disk image to java_nine_jdk.dmg and stores it in the /tmp directory.
- Mounts the disk image silently in the /tmp directory. The mounted disk image will not be visible to any logged-in user.
- Installs the latest Java 9 JDK using the installer package stored inside the disk image.
- After installation, unmounts the disk image and removes it from the Mac in question.
