I am still using the 2011 version and am looking at getting the 2019 version (
Do NOT buy Office 2019 if you have Office 365 plan like Office 365 Home, Office 365 Personal or an enterprise plan. In other words, you pay for Office as an annual fee. Office 2019 for Mac is NOT like past versions such as Office 2016, Office 2011 etc. It’s NOT a new version intended for all Microsoft Office users.
- The Office 2019 suite will include the standard complement of Office apps: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, plus server apps like Exchange, SharePoint, and Skype for Business.
- This applies for both Office 365 for Mac and Office 2019 for Mac users. What about Office 2016 for Mac? If you have a one-time purchase of Office 2016 for Mac or you have Office 365 for Mac and are using the Office 2016 for Mac build on macOS 10.11 or 10.10, your Office system requirements will not change.
I like to know if certain functions still work in 2019 that worked in 2011. For example Apple Scripts. I have several that I use all the time (stored in the Outlook folder for scripts). Here an example (in case somebody likes to test or for easy understanding), this script nukes a selected message on the spot, gone forever.
tellapplication'Microsoft Outlook'
settheMsgstothecurrent messages-- selected messages
try
repeatwiththeMsgintheMsgs
permanently deletetheMsg
Office 2019 For Mac
endrepeat
onerrorerrMsgnumbererrNum
settheSubjecttosubjectoftheMsg
settheFoldertonameof«classstor» oftheMsg
beep
display dialogerrMsg& return& return& errNum& return& return& '(Erroring on message: ' & theSubject& ' in ' & theFolder& ')' with icon2
endtry
endtell
Now the second part of this scripts magic is that one can run it with a keyboard command. This works by adding, in this, ‘cD’ to the title (or any keyboard combination you like) so this script is called ‘Nuke MessagecD’ and using the control key and D it nukes the message.
In Word I like to know if Macros are still supported. I remember (I think) that in the 2008 version they where not. I use these a lot, like to change language in documents or fonts or…
